Processing of Acrylic Plates

Acrylic plate is polymerized from methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA), which is called polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) board organic glass. It is a type of organic glass that has undergone special processing techniques, known as the "Queen of Plastics".

Acrylic plate is a highly transparent and high-strength plastic material, commonly used in home decoration, advertising signs, exhibition displays, industrial products, and home appliances. The characteristics of acrylic plate are smooth surface, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, UV resistance, easy processing, and easy forming, etc.

The development of processing technology in acrylic plates is becoming increasingly mature, achieving the processing of complex graphics. And there are various processing methods, and suitable processing methods can be selected according to different needs and shapes. Common processing methods include: Cutting, hot bending, drilling, polishing, carving, screen printing, UV printing, bonding and assembly, optical processing, etc. 

Hot bending: by heating the acrylic board to a temperature of 140 ℃ to 160 ℃, the board can be softened and formed, and local hot bending can also be performed using angle iron and hot water or hair dryer.
Hole drilling:  sharp drill bits are required for drilling acrylic panels, and protective film should be applied to the acrylic panel before drilling to avoid scratches.
Polishing is the process of polishing the surface of acrylic products to make them more transparent.
CNC engraving: carving requires the use of laser cutting machines or special carving machines. By adjusting the intensity and speed of the laser, various desired effects can be carved, such as letters, patterns, etc., commonly used in decoration, signage, and billboard production.
Silk screen printing: can print patterns on the surface of acrylic boards or products, achieving a colorful and long-lasting effect.

UV printing: can be also used on the surface of flat acrylic to get high definition photo images. 
Bonding and assembly: glue and assemble the processed acrylic board parts.

Optical processing: using silk screen printing, laser dotting, V cutting, becoming as LGP, used in thin LED light panels, lightboxes and signs.
